Kanatbek Safinov, Director of the Institute of Parliamentarism, took part in a meeting of the Council on Inclusion at the Senate.
The next meeting of the Council on Inclusion at the Senate was devoted to the problems of medical, labor and social rehabilitation of people with disabilities. The senators, together with representatives of government agencies and the expert community, prepared a package of recommendations aimed at supporting this category of citizens, and also discussed mechanisms for interaction on their further implementation.
Welcoming the participants of the meeting, the Speaker of the Senate stressed that the President of the country pays priority attention to the formation of an inclusive society where every citizen has equal opportunities to realize their potential.
At the same time, during the discussion of inclusive learning conditions, it was noted that it is not enough just to create a physical barrier-free environment. Inclusive education means flexible programs, adapted technical and educational tools, and the appropriate competence of teachers. However, there is still a shortage of teaching staff and rehabilitation specialists in the regions.
In addition, as the Speaker of the Senate stressed, it is wrong to consider rehabilitation of people with disabilities only from the medical side. This urgent social problem requires a special integrated approach and interaction of stakeholders.
