On May 21, Almas Kanatov, executive director for rulemaking at the Institute of Parliamentarism under the UDP of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and chief specialist Almagul Khasenova took part in an international round table dedicated to current issues of anti-corruption.
The event took place at the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies and brought together scientists, practitioners, as well as representatives of the prosecutor’s office, financial monitoring authorities and other departments from different regions of the country.
During the event, a number of key issues were raised, including the introduction of new anti-corruption tools, such as integrity checks, strengthening the corporate responsibility of quasi-public sector entities through anti-corruption compliance, and the introduction of liability for unjust enrichment.
The problems of using cryptocurrencies in corruption schemes, including those based on blockchain technology, were discussed, as well as the experience of interaction with international partners in this area.
The conference participants expressed the hope that the proposals put forward for discussion would be useful for developing further measures to combat corruption.
Following the event, it is planned to publish a collection of recommendations.
