The Institute of Parliamentarism, together with the Project Office of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and deputies of the Parliament, held a working meeting dedicated to discussing the draft law "On Science City". 
This draft law is of great strategic importance for the development of scientific, technical, industrial and technological potential of the country.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in his speech at the meeting of the National Council for Science and Technology on April 12, 2024, noted: "Today, countries based on scientific progress have taken the leading positions in the world. We need to become one of these countries. Therefore, the development of science should be an absolute priority."
The discussion of the bill was attended by deputies of the Senate and the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Akim of the city of Kurchatov, representatives of government agencies, specialists of scientific and other organizations (National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, National Defense University, Institute of Economic Research, JSC NAC Kazatomprom, etc.), domestic and foreign experts.
Following the discussion, the main directions of the draft law were identified, expert comments and suggestions were presented, which will be taken into account in further legislative work.
