Director of the Institute of Parliamentarism Took Part in the Working Group on Parliamentary Reform

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev chaired the first meeting of the Working Group on Parliamentary Reform. The event brought together representatives of Parliament, the Government, political parties, legal experts, scholars, public figures, and the Director of the Institute of Parliamentarism, Natalya Pan.

In his remarks, the Head of State emphasized that parliamentary reform is a matter that directly affects the future of the nation and its people.

“Today we are holding the first meeting of the Working Group on Parliamentary Reform. Last week, I signed a decree establishing this special group. This is an extremely important and responsible task for our country. In my Address to the Nation, I made it clear that this issue requires broad discussion within civil society, the expert community, and the Parliament itself,” said President Tokayev.

According to the President, the working group includes professionals from various sectors and prominent public figures.

“All participants are well-known citizens and experts in their respective fields. I would like to stress once again: parliamentary reform is a matter that directly concerns the fate of our nation. I am confident that each member of the working group, fully aware of their historical responsibility, will contribute actively and effectively,” the President noted.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also stated that the transition to a unicameral Parliament is fully consistent with international practice and will enhance the efficiency of the legislative process.

The implementation of parliamentary reform is a key part of the political modernization agenda outlined in the President’s latest Address to the Nation. The working group will develop concrete proposals aimed at improving the parliamentary system and strengthening representative governance in Kazakhstan.
