A regular meeting of the Working Group on Parliamentary Reform, chaired by State Counselor Erlan Karin, was held in Astana. During the session, Director of the Institute of Parliamentarism Natalya Pan presented an analytical report prepared on the basis of proposals from citizens and the expert community.

In her speech, Natalya Pan systematized the opinions and initiatives of citizens, experts, and public organizations. The report became an important part of the discussion, helping to highlight the key public demands and identify the most widely debated areas of reform.

The main topic of the meeting was the development of a model for the future unicameral parliament. Participants discussed the initiatives submitted by members of the working group, as well as citizen appeals received through the e-Otinish and e-Gov platforms.

The discussion focused on qualification requirements for deputies, the procedure for their election, the optimal number of seats in the chamber, matters of quota allocation, and the term lengths of the future legislative body.

Following the meeting, participants agreed to consolidate all ideas expressed and conduct a detailed analysis. Work on shaping the core approaches to parliamentary reform will continue at upcoming sessions of the working group.
